It is a fact that the Coronavirus pandemic has caused a devastating effect across the globe. It is indeed a humbling time for us all in the world. Perhaps in this humility we all will begin to see certain life lessons and hopefully take these lessons even after the Pandemic.

Experience they say is not always the best teacher because it comes with avoidable pain and discomfort.

In this situation I would say experience is an impactful teacher.

  1. WE ARE ALL THE SAME (HUMANS); Over many decades we humans have persistently put discriminating labels on people, countries, gender you name it. Where a few individuals choose the many who should have what amongst other things. The fight against all forms of descrimination has lingered into the 22nd century. Until now, with the spread of this virus, the walls of these discriminating elements have been brought down. We are all humans “screams” the virus. irrespective of our colour, size,shape preferences,economic status. Every false justification of discrimination has suddenly been put to rest. If we all bleed we are all the same.
  2. THERE IS STRENGTH IN UNITY: Selfishness and self centeredness is an innate trait of humans. One we all battle with every single day as we make for the slightest to the weighty decisions. People got very ME-ISH” My lawn, My parking space, My Children, Countries got so “OUR-ISH” Our weapons, Our soldiers, Our health system. The Virus has suddenly changed our tone and our thinking. Neighbours are reaching out to one another, countries are supporting other countries. We have suddenly become a world of ‘WE-ISH’. Yes! Way to go fellow humans!. I strongly believe that solidarity will be our weapon of Victory over this global enemy.
  3. HEALTH IS VERY GOLDEN: You know when you are eating and doing something really bad for your health but you can’t just stop because it feels so good. Just to be sincere I fall deeply in this category. It seems like the Corona virus came as a karma to us, like the earth saying to us humans “ but I told you so”. The only drug for this virus is a “ strong immune system”. Health is now an expensive treasure for all, people eating fruits and vegetables, exercising and loading themselves with a lot of immune boosters, suddenly quit smoking and drinking . With this sudden switch in our health consciousness we will subtly be forming good habits that will help our health beyond the Pandemic.
  4. IMPROVEMENT IN THE INSTITUTION OF FAMILY: The family plays a major role in the formation of any society. The values of the institution of family have experienced a decline over the years, largely because family members spend more time apart than together. There is no or minimal communication and engagement within the family. However, the current coronavirus pandemic is bringing families together and breaking the busy life barriers that prevent people from spending time with family.
  5. MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING: We are constanting in a rat race, trying hard to acquire all things damn the cost. Success to many has been equated to Money. In our continuous pursuit of these successes we have lost sight of truly what is important in life such as people, love, kindness, compassion, the list goes on and on. Things that money cannot buy in its genuineness. Well, The virus has put the theory to a good test, it has humbled the proud and it has given people many reasons to rethink and reevaluate their lives.

I would like to stop here and conclude with these few words;

Our eyes are not entirely the only organ of sight, no matter how dark a place may be, we humans have a light of direction inside of us to help us navigate our way through any circumstance. This is the time for us all to search inwards to reach for the light we carry.

Be safe !
